Our currency is sterling but as we like to do things a little differently over here Jersey also has its own money, the Jersey pound. You’ll usually be given Jersey money as change when you’re shopping, but English money can be freely used, and all major debit and credit cards are accepted. There are ATM machines in St. Helier and across the island.
The Jersey Pound
Being curiously Brit…(ish) we have our own unique money, the Jersey pound. It’s the same currency and value as the English pound but with a slight Jersey quirk. You’ll find iconic landmarks such as Archirondel Tower, Seymour Tower and La Rocco Tower featured on our Jersey pound notes. It’s also one of the last few places you’ll see a one-pound note, and while the notes may look different, the value is still the same.

If you’d like to use cash on your holiday to Jersey, you can use British pounds. You’ll also find plenty of ATM’s dotted around the island, which mostly distribute Jersey pounds, and both are legal tender. If you’re going cash-less, then you can of course use your credit or debit card.
If you find yourself stuck with leftover Jersey money, then shopping in Jersey is like nowhere else. You’ll find luxury brands, elegant department stores, and beautiful jewellery shops, all VAT-free. And if all that shopping has left you a little peckish, then tuck into the taste of Jersey and treat yourself to some delicious local delicacies.
But if that wasn’t enough to splash all of the cash, (unlikely, we know!), just remember to change it at a post office.
